Density, Density, Density!!!! Val, a huacaya male, is one of the cutest and curliest alpacas the Perez's have ever seen. His chocolate colored fleece is so twirly and thick that he looks like a little teddy bear. Maybe that's why his sire was named Lanark's Peruvian "Teddy" (Knoblocks Prairie Ranch). His dam is Primrose (see home page.)and his grandsire is the legendary Drambuie now in Australia. The owner of Drambuie confided to Kate Perez that an Australian breeder told her, "We think that was the Yank's biggest mistake letting him leave the USA! He's a national treasure down under!"
Val is 3 years old now and has already bred four females. He won a 1st place at the Great Frederick Fair 2003 in his halter class and a 1st for his crimpy fleece in the fleece show. He placed at the Jubilee also despite being one of only two younger males in the ring. On his most recent AOBA fleece show entry the judge wrote, "Very nice Lock formation and crimp!" and "Lovely Uniformity of color."
Val's bite is perfect! His bones are dense and his conformation is very correct as well. This guy is the whole package.
Mount Airy Alpaca Company's Stud fee: $1000 until his first offspring are born in spring, 2004
